Welcome to the Geelong Area Consultative Committee web page.

The Geelong Area Consultative Committee (ACC) is a non-profit, community-based organisation funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government.

Our charter is to advise on the infrastructure needs of our region and improve the engagement of the regional community, regional development organisations and local governments with the Australian Government.

There are 54 ACC’s across Australia serving rural, regional, remote and metropolitan communities. This national network was incepted in 1994 and has effectively covered the whole of Australia since that time.

The Australian Government has acknowledged that the national network of Area Consultative Committees (ACCs) has been an important link between the Australian Government and rural and metropolitan Australia.

The Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP announced on 20 March 2008 that as foreshadowed in the Governments key regional election commitments, Area Consultative Committees (ACCs) would provide the basis for the creation of Regional Development Australia (RDA).

Therefore the Geelong ACC will transition to become a local Regional Development Australia committee and it is anticipated that this change will be effective on January 1st 2009.

Please keep in touch with our website to keep abreast of how those changes will affect our local community and activities.
